 Finest Pitch-Pick

🏆 Name of the Competition: MIT Climate & Energy Prize (CEP) 2026

🎯 Aim: The MIT CEP is the largest and longest-running student-led startup competition for climate tech and energy in the world. Its mission is to accelerate the development of breakthrough solutions to achieve net-zero emissions by empowering student entrepreneurs with mentorship, networking, and significant non-dilutive capital.

📍 Organizer: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) – Cambridge, MA, USA

🎯 Focus: The competition is open to innovations across the entire climate and energy spectrum. Key sectors include:

  • Decarbonizing Industry: Manufacturing, materials, and carbon capture.

  • Energy Generation & Storage: Renewables, grid tech, and batteries.

  • Sustainable Agriculture: Food systems and land use.

  • Transportation: Mobility, shipping, and aviation.

  • Built Environment: Efficiency and sustainable construction.

💸 Prize Fund:

  • $100,000+ Grand Prize (Equity-free cash)

  • Additional track prizes (ranging from $5,000 to $25,000) for runners-up and specific category winners.

  • Intensive Mentoring: Access to a global network of industry experts and top-tier investors.

Who can apply?

  • Student-led teams: At least 50% of the founding team must be currently enrolled students (undergraduate, graduate, or PhD) or postdoctoral fellows at any university worldwide (graduation in Dec 2025 or later).

  • Early-stage: The startup must have raised less than $100,000 in equity funding (grants/non-dilutive funding do not count).

  • Team size: At least 2 members per team.

📅 Deadline: January 11, 2026 (23:59 ET) Applications are reviewed immediately. Selected teams advance to the Virtual Round in February 2026.

🎤 Live Pitch (Semi-Finals & Finals): The competition moves from virtual rounds to in-person pitches at three global hubs:

  • Asia Semi-Finals: Singapore (February 26–27, 2026)

  • U.S. Semi-Finals: Boston, MA (March 6–7, 2026)

  • Europe Semi-Finals: Munich, Germany (March 12–13, 2026)

  • Grand Finals: Boston, MA (April 16–17, 2026)

📍 Location: Global (Online application; Regional Finals in Singapore, Boston, and Munich)

📝 How to apply? Apply via the official MIT CEP website. You will need a pitch deck (PDF), an Executive Summary, and a 2-minute pitch video (recommended).

💡 My Comment: With regional finals in Singapore, Boston, and Munich, this is truly a global stage. The $100K grand prize is "non-dilutive," meaning you keep 100% of your equity. If you are a student entrepreneur building the next big thing in climate tech, this is the most prestigious platform to gain US and international investor visibility. 🌍🔋
